Program Overview

Recreation soccer is intended for all kids and is designed to teach soccer skills while having fun.  The Rec program is broken down into age groups.  All ages, except U-6 and U-19 have one practice and one game each week.  U-6 age groups play on Saturday mornings and are split up into small groups that practice together and then play small sided 3v3 games.  U-19 plays one night during the week, usually on Fridays.  (Note- format for Spring soccer may vary).  After you register, a coach will contact you about the program, practice night, and games.

Volunteers are always needed to help out coaching.  Experience is not necessary, as practice and training materials are available to coaches through TSC Technical staff.

Our age groups are based on the  grade of child.

U5 (Birthyear 2012/ 2013)
Our U5  program is designed for Pre-K children and adheres to the USYSA guidelines.  U5 plays on Saturday mornings in the fall and spring.  Our format is very simple and fun and is designed to help kids learn to love the game. These sessions will use developmentally appropriate activities to teach soccer basics as well as to develop overall motor skills. Most activities will engage your child in a "one child, one ball" setting to maximize their enjoyment and learning.  A size 3 ball and shinguards is all you need!.

U6 (2011/ 2010)
Our U6  program is designed for Kindergarteners and adheres to the USYSA guidelines.  U6 plays on Saturday mornings in the fall and spring.  Our format is very simple and fun and is designed to help kids learn to love the game. These sessions will use developmentally appropriate activities to teach soccer basics as well as to develop overall motor skills. Most activities will engage your child in a "one child, one ball" setting to maximize their enjoyment and learning. Sessions will conclude with informal 3 v 3 scrimmages for them to learn to apply the skills they've learned.  A size 3 ball and shin guards is all you need!.

U8- (2009 /2008)
Kids in this age group are in grades 1 and 2.  This age group will practice and play 4v4 games twice per week: The boys and girls will each have a session on Saturday mornings as well as once per week.  Although the schedule has not yet been determined, one group typically plays on Wednesday nights and one on Thursday nights.  Practices will consist of approximately 45 minutes of training and 30 minutes of 4v4 games against another team.  Players will work on skill development and learning the game of soccer.  Emphasis will be placed on continuing individual skill development and adding a "two players, one ball" aspect to their skill set.  All players should have their own ball at every practice (size 3 or 4 is acceptable).  The end of the session will culminate with 6v6 full field games.

U10, U12, U14 (2007 - 2002)
Kids in these brackets practice one night a week with games on Saturday in the Fall (U10 uses a size 4 ball).   In the Spring this age group plays in the Division 5 group which includes area towns.  These divisions are split into separate boys and girls teams.  Emphasis is on both skill development and tactical training.
